How Can Spinal Adjustments Improve Quality Of Life?
Many people are frightened by the idea of having a chiropractor adjust their spine. They envision nightmare scenarios of pain and even paralysis resulting from an adjustment. Obviously, these are needless fears. If they were even partially true chiropractors would have been run out of business decades ago.
The reality is, too many Americans are missing out on the vast benefits of chiropractic care simply because they aren’t properly informed about them. So what is it about the spine that we need to know, and how does chiropractic come into the picture?
For starters, your spine is connected to your internal organs, and is actually the means through which the brain can communicate to these organs. It therefore makes logical sense that if your spine is out of whack, then the lines of communication between your brain and body will not flow as they should, and you can expect problems. The following post explains this:
The Real Reason Behind Pain: How the Spine is Connected to Internal Organs!
Right after I had my first son, I suffered from headaches and some digestive issues. I had never had digestive issues before, but I passed it off as a side effect of giving birth to a living being. I also blamed the pressures of being in school and raising a small child.
My husband went to a chiropractor to treat some pain in his hands, and that is when I decided to try it as well. The chiropractor re-aligned my spine and, with weekly visits, I was feeling much better. Read full post from David Wolfe
Various things can cause your spine to become misaligned. It doesn’t even have to be a physical injury. Even stress can interfere with your spine.
Monday Morning Motivation | Vertebral Subluxation
#4 of 13 things every new patient should know: Stress can produce vertebral subluxation.
Okay, so patients have never heard the term vertebral subluxation…
“Chiropractors refer to this combination of spinal bone misalignment and nervous system interference as vertebral subluxation. Vertebral, meaning of the spine, and subluxation meaning less than a total dislocation.” Read more at Patient Media
So how can a chiropractor help? The goal of chiropractic when it comes to your spine is to get it back into perfect alignment to restore proper communication between the brain and body, and proper functioning of your organs.
In fact, as the following post reveals, chiropractic spinal adjustments could go even further to change brain functions and improve behavior, task performance, decision-making, attention, memory and even intelligence.
Without A Doubt: Chiropractic Research Shows Adjusting The Subluxated Spine Changes Brain Function
We are very excited to announce that another Spinal Research Foundation facilitated research has been published in a highly reputable journal [1]. The study, undertaken by Heidi Haavik, Kelly Holt, Bernadette Murphy and others is published in the Journal of Neural Plasticity. And the results are very exciting for chiropractic!
…This from Heidi Haavik [2]:
“We do know that spinal function does affect brain function. There’s now solid evidence that adjusting the spine changes brain function.
This is the fourth time that the effect of adjusting the spine has on the brain has been studied. This last time it was studied and confirmed by an independent medical researcher.” Read full post at Circle of Docs
